Andrea Edwards MScPT, BHK,

Registered Physical Therapist,

Certificate in Acupuncture (CAFCI),

Certified Lymphedema Therapist,

Somatic Experiencing INT 1 student

Andrea graduated with a Clinical Masters of Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 2005, after completing a Bachelor of Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in 2002. Starting her career working in private clinics and the hospital, she found her true passion working in outpatient oncology at a clinic in Ottawa treating women with breast cancer.

Andrea has taken postgraduate courses in Manual Therapy, Myofascial Release, Mckenzie technique, SFMA, Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Complete Decongestive Therapy, Trauma Aware Healthcare, and Somatic Experiencing.

Using her clinical knowledge and hands-on treatment, Andrea helps patients with breast cancer increase neck, shoulder, and arm mobility post-surgically (mastectomy, lumpectomy or reconstruction) and following radiation. She also provides education and treatment to manage chest and arm swelling (lymphedema). Pain, restrictions, and other side effects can be rehabilitated through posture retraining, shoulder range of motion, strength and specific scar work. Andrea works with patients enabling them to return to activities they enjoy. Working with Andrea, all patients can maintain the benefits of treatment through a personally designed home exercise program. Other orthopedic physical impairments will and can be treated.

As a co-leader of the Strength After Breast Cancer class, Andrea is enthusiastic about bringing this 5-week group exercise class to Kamloops. Sessions focus on strength training, overall flexibility and cardio in a group atmosphere that is fun for all.

When she isn’t working, Andrea, along with her husband, three children and dog Trigger, are enjoying many of the outdoor activities BC has to offer.
